“The thoughts we think and the words we speak create our experiences.”
Louise L. Hay
In Part 1 I wrote about my story in relation to Asthma and Eczema. I wrote what Louise L. Hay had written about Asthma and this time I am writing about Eczema and then I will provide you with tools and tips to help you see where your Asthma or Eczema might be coming from.
The definition for eczema is: Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is a recurring, non-infectious, inflammatory skin condition where the skin becomes dry, red, itchy and scaly and in severe cases may weep, bleed and crust over which causes the person suffering. If the eczema is really bad the person may suffer from body images issues as well.
According to Louise L. Hay the skin is about:
- Protecting our individuality.
- Old buried gunk.
- I am being threatened.
- Breath-taking antagonism and
- Mental eruptions.
When we compare this to Asthma which is: a disorder of respiration with laboured breathing, a feeling of constriction in the chest and coughing. Asthma can be life threatening.
According to Louise L. Hay:
- Represents the ability to take in life.
- Fear or refusal to take in life fully.
- Not feeling the right to take up space or even exist.
- Smother love.
- Inability to breathe for one’s self.
- Feeling stifled.
- Suppressed crying.
- In babies and children it is Fear of life and Not wanting to be here.
It is interesting how both Asthma and Eczema are related medically as they say that if you have eczema you can also get asthma. This was the case for me as I had eczema and then later on as a teenager I got asthma. Does any of this relate to you or someone you know?
Lets start art looking at some tools that can help you see where it has come and what you can do to heal the issue.
The first step is to ask yourself some questions.
- What were you doing when you first remember developing the condition?
- What emotions were coming up for you at that time?
- What is coming up for you now when you think about your condition?
- Any other question that you can think of.
Write down the answers on a piece of paper and have a good look at them. What is coming up for you? What emotions are you feeling? You may be thinking that this is a waste of time and if you do that is okay. I can tell you from experience that doing this really does make a difference as we need to take a look deep inside of us and see what needs to be healed.
Lets try an experiment.
Go to the mirror and look yourself in the eye. Can you say I Love You and mean it? Can you say I Am Amazing and mean it? Can you look at your body without clothes and say You Are Beautiful and mean it? Can you say I love you and accept you exactly as you are? If you can’t say yes to any of these then there are still some issues to deal with.
Lets try and exercise.
Take a piece of paper and finish this sentence I Should _______________. Do this five times. After doing that say why you should. You may come up with answers like My father told me I should, Because I have to be perfect, Because I am afraid not to, Because I am too lazy, because I am too worthless etc.
Now let’s change this around and start the sentence with If I really wanted to, I could ______________. See how by turning this around it totally changes everything and you can see the situation differently. Now that you have written those sentences ask yourself Why haven’t you? What is stopping you? You may think of things like I don’t want to, I am afraid, or Because I am not good enough. How does it feel when you say these things to yourself?
How are you feeling after doing these two exercises? Has anything shifted for you? Do not worry of something hasn’t as that is okay especially if it is really deep. Now ow is a good time to take three deep breaths and have a glass of water. Even doing these simple exercises takes a lot of energy which is why you need to breath and have a glass of water.
Now that you have done these exercises, had a few deep breaths and had a glass of water let’s look at other exercises we can do.
What negative messages did you hear or still do hear?
On a piece of paper list all of the negative message you heard or still hear and where they came from such as parents, teachers, friends etc. As you are writing these what emotions are you feeling? Make sure that you take your time with this to get the most benefit from this exercise. These are the thoughts that need to be looked at with love and to be changed into positive loving thoughts.
Changing the negative thoughts into positive.
We need to look at whether you believe it to be true or not. Ask yourself Is it true or real? There are only two answers that you should come up which are Yes or No. It is true if you believe it to be true and It is not true if you believe it isn’t. The negative thoughts that you had written down now rewrite as positive thoughts. Change the wording so that it becomes positive.
Let’s try one. The negative thought is I don’t want to be here and I want to go home. Now change that around to I love living here as I know that home is in my heart. Can you see how by turning the negative into positive it helps you to see the thought differently. Try this with all of the negative thoughts that you came up with.
Now let’s look at some problems and the beliefs that may go with them.
Problem is Financial Disaster and Belief is I am not worthy of having money.
Problem is No friends and Belief is Nobody loves me.
Problem is Work and Belief is I am not good enough.
Problem is Always pleasing others and Belief is I never get my way.
Does any of these sound familiar to you? What other beliefs might you have? Why not write them as above with problem and belief. Our thoughts do manifest into reality and by looking at them and changing them we can change our lives.
This is one of the ways that I have changed my life and was able to heal my eczema and asthma. There are many other tools that I have learnt and I will be talking about them in future blogs. Wishing you wonderful and positive thoughts.
In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole, and complete. I recognise my body as a good friend. Each cell in my body has Divine Intelligence. I listen to what it tells me, and know that its advice is valid. I am always safe, and Divinely protected and guided. I choose to be healthy and free. All is well in my world.
